(May 16) -- Britney Spears has baby number two on the way, but as long as the paparazzi are around, photos of parenting no-no’s with child number one keep on showing up.
In Spears’ latest faux-pas, a photograph shows the pop star driving in a convertible with eight-month-old Sean Preston hunched over in a car seat in the rear of the car, but facing forward. According to California motor-vehicle laws, children under 20 pounds or under a year old must face backwards when in a child seat.
"The seat is facing the wrong way. We like it when the child's head is facing back," California Highway Patrol spokesman Tom Marshall told the New York Post. While illegal, since California authorities didn’t witness Spears’ infraction first-hand, they are not considering citing her for the offense.

First she was sweet, then she was sexy, then she met Kevin and turned trashy. We've got the pics, the videos and the songs from her entire career.
"Britney Spears was in total compliance with California law with the forward-facing child-safety car seat with the baby strapped in properly in the back of the car," Martin Singer, Spears’ lawyer, told The New York Post.
"If this were a traffic stop, it would be up to an officer's discretion whether to give out a citation or a verbal lecture," Marshall told the Post. "In other words, if they stop you and realize you were unaware and are able to correct the situation, then they might let you off with a verbal warning and not a citation."
Spears is no stranger to parental criticism since giving birth to Sean Preston, her first child with husband Kevin Federline.
Photographs of Britney Spears driving with Sean Preston in her lap with no restraints hit the Internet just months after the child was born, sparking an outrage among parents, critics and anyone who had an outlet to vent. Spears tried to validate the situation by saying she was speeding away from overly aggressive paparazzi and did not have time to properly strap the child into his car seat.
Even more recently, Sean Preston suffered a head injury when his high chair collapsed just last month, prompting spears to take him to a doctor. The mishap was ruled an accident, but the doctor was obligated by state laws to call social workers, who inspected Spears’ home but found no wrongdoing.
Just last week, after weeks of rumors and speculation, Spears announced on 'Late Show with David Letterman' that she is pregnant with her second child.
